How to give a talk at the 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo
Oral presentation
Good oral presentations should be interesting, get the message across clearly, take into account the audience’s language and situation, and keep people interested the whole time. Not everyone can be a great public speaker, and in many ways, it takes practise to become good at giving interesting oral presentations. The links below will help.

On the brand resources page, under “Community Templates,” there are templates for PowerPoint presentations that can be used at conferences. Choosing what to write:
• Having the right structure
• Eliminating jargon
• Making slides that work
• Finding what you love!
Top Tip: Once you’ve written your slides and know what you’re going to say, practise your presentation with a friend or co-worker. This will help you figure out what parts of the presentation you might need to work on more and help you think of any questions that might come up. If you can’t find a co-worker to practise with, try using your webcam or phone to record yourself. So, you can watch yourself give a presentation and see where you can make changes.
Poster presentation
At a conference, make your poster something that people will want to stop and look at. If you are putting together a poster presentation, these tools will help your work stand out from the crowd:
• The “Community Templates” section of the “Brand Resources” page has poster templates that have already been branded. They are easy to use; all you have to do is download them and add your own content.
• The #betterposter design has been officially backed by the 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo. With these new templates, you can make posters with less text and a cleaner look that highlights the main finding in plain English. Watch a short video to find out more about the design and how it works.
• This sheet of information has questions that will help you make a poster for a conference.
Great tip! Once you have a draught of a poster, you can use the checklist for dissemination to make the draught better.

Booth for conferences
At some conferences, you might be able to set up a booth to show off your work. If you made more than one thing to spread the word, you can show them here. You could also bring screens or computers to make people more interested in your booth. Like with posters, you want to make sure that people want to come to your booth and talk to you.
You can talk to 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo about your event, get more information about 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo’s event policies, or get help with event branding, such as special banners, flyers, or branded items to give away.
If you are hosting the symposium or conference, you can contact 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo to have it listed and promoted on our website.
Talk about your presentation
Share on social media that you’ll be giving a talk at a conference when you know about it. Visit this page to find out more about social media platforms and how to use them well. Tell people on social media where you’re going and what you’ll be talking about. Give them a link to sign up to attend (if possible).
You might want to think about having a colleague or peer live-tweet your presentation. This will give you something to retweet later, and it will also give people in the room something to share. People in the room might also be tweeting about your presentation, which you can retweet later. You could live stream your presentation on YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram so that your followers who can’t be there can watch it as it happens.
If you don’t have your own social media accounts, we can share a picture of you at a conference on the 11th Global Pharma Conference and Expo’s social media. It’s great to get a picture next to your poster, at your booth, or next to something with the conference name. Send the following to pharmacy@ucgconferences.com if you are interested.
- Write your name
- If you want, your Instagram/Twitter handle
- The related Review or Center group

You can give out materials to your audience after your talk so that they remember what they learned. This could be copies of your presentation, a recording of it, or something else related to what you talked about. You can give them out in person at the conference, afterward if you know who came to your session, or through social media to anyone who may have started following you because of your presentation.
figuring out how your presentation went over
Many conferences will do their own evaluations of their conference programming, including oral presentations that were given. They might ask people who were there about the topic, how well the presenters did, and how good the presentation was. Ask the person running the conference if they rate the presentations. If they do, you can use that to ask for feedback about your presentation.
If you gave a presentation, you can also ask your audience for feedback on your own. You can do this by putting paper surveys on tables or chairs that you can collect, by sending an email after your presentation, or by doing live surveys. With these, you can poll people in real time by asking a question in your presentation and having people in the audience answer on their phones by clicking on a link you give them. Popular tools for this are Sli.do and Menti.
